Impuls.Social in eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon

The eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon featured more than 21,000 participants. The 33rd edition of the Barcelona half marathon, the eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon 2023, went down in history on Sunday, February 19th. Two weeks prior to the event, all 21,477 available bibs had already sold out, marking the second-highest number of registrations in the history of the race and bringing it back to pre-pandemic levels in terms of runner turnout. Another record-breaking statistic was the number of female participants, which reached an all-time high this year with 7,350 women registered, accounting for 35% of the total number of participants, just like in the previous edition.

These figures were complemented by a youthful atmosphere, as more than half of this year's participants were under 45 years old, and with 35% foreign participation, as in the previous edition but with a much more diverse origin, with 101 nationalities represented, twice as many as the previous year. Additionally, the fast and urban circuit of the eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon was ideal for setting new time records in this distance.

Impus.Social is a non-profit organization dedicated to integrating migrants within the local community in Barcelona, Spain. Our goal is to educate and inform migrants about the sustainable development of Barcelona and further foster an innate interest in environmental awareness, social integration, and social awareness. We believe that everyone has the right to be an active and productive member of society and our organization strives to provide the necessary resources and tools to make that a reality.

At the eDreams Barcelona Half Marathon, members of the Impus.Social team ran in t-shirts with the Ukrainian flag to draw attention to the Russian aggression and express support for the Ukrainian people. We are committed to raising awareness about global issues and promoting social responsibility, and we are proud to support the Ukrainian people in their struggle for peace and freedom.

As part of our commitment to supporting Ukraine, our organization is carrying out several projects this year. One of our major projects is RESUCREATE, which focuses on the restoration of destroyed historical buildings in Ukraine. By restoring these buildings, we hope to preserve Ukraine's cultural heritage and contribute to the country's economic development. We are also working on envMatter, which aims to integrate young Ukrainian scientists into the international science community. Through this project, we hope to promote scientific cooperation and exchange of ideas, and to provide opportunities for young scientists to develop their skills and gain valuable experience.

In addition to these projects, we are constantly looking for new ways to support Ukraine and promote sustainable development and social integration. We believe that by working together and sharing our knowledge and resources, we can create a better future for all.
